Contact lenses
In the early days of contact lenses the choices and suitability for patients was very limited. Today, lens technology is so advanced that almost anyone can be fitted with contact lenses. At Jarvis Optometrist we are experienced at fitting all lens types from daily lenses to Nocturnal lenses that reshape your eyes overnight and leave you lens free during the day.
We also use the latest technology to asses you for contact lenses . For example corneal topography, which gives a more detailed map of the shape of your cornea .
Contact lenses fall into the following catagories:
Daily disposables
Ideal for occasional use, sports and socialising.
Monthly disposables
Best for everyday use. Available in various colours, toric (to correct astigmatism) and multifocal.
Gas permeable lenses
A very durable lens that allows more oxygen through to your eye. Also used to correct conditions such as keratoconus.
Nocturnal lenses
Lenses that reshape your eyes overnight and leave you lens free during the day. A reversible alternative to laser surgery.
Scleral lenses
Mainly used to correct Keratoconus and often prevent the need for a corneal graft
